We’ve all heard that running helps us lose weight, but to shed pounds at an optimal level there are a few things to remember when you start running. First, you need to give yourself time to adapt; start by running 3-4 days a week. As you get into better shape, you will be able to run more often if you want to. Second, you’ll need to make sure that you are consistent. When you’re trying to lose weight, nothing is more important than sticking with your running plan! If you can stick to your schedule, you will eventually build up endurance and be able to run for longer time periods, traveling further than you once did. Third, start out with a walk/run program, this is perfect if you’re trying to drop some pounds because you can workout for longer periods of time without running out of energy. It gives your body time to grow accustomed to being in motion and exerting energy.
